Domestic Cleaner – North Devon District Hospital Location: North Devon District Hospital Hours: 35 hours per week, 6:30 am – 2:00 pm About the Role We are looking for a dedicated Domestic Cleaner to join our friendly team at North Devon District Hospital. In this vital role, you’ll help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. You’ll play a key part in preventing the spread of infection by delivering high standards of hygiene and cleanliness across clinical and non-clinical areas, following national and Trust cleaning specifications. Key Responsibilities Carry out daily cleaning tasks across assigned hospital areas in line with cleaning schedules and infection control standards. Empty and dispose of waste safely, including clinical waste. Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls. Use cleaning materials and equipment safely and efficiently (COSHH compliant). Respond to ad-hoc cleaning requests as needed. Maintain high levels of customer care—being courteous, respectful, and professional at all times. Adhere to all Trust and Sodexo policies, including health & safety and infection prevention procedures. About You You’ll be someone who takes pride in keeping environments spotless and safe. You’ll enjoy working as part of a supportive team and have a caring, positive attitude toward patients and colleagues. Essential qualities: Reliability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach. Ability to work independently and follow instructions. Basic literacy and good communication skills. Physically fit for active cleaning work (pushing trolleys, bending, lifting light furniture). Desirable: Experience in healthcare or a similar cleaning role. Knowledge of infection control and COSHH. NVQ Level 1/2 in Cleaning Support Services or equivalent.
