Job Description:
Are you an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor? Based in a commutable distance to Bristol and looking for a new adventure? Thatcher Associates has an opportunity to join a dynamic, high-end regional developer in Bristol.
We have an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position available within a regional, high-specification/luxury housebuilder. We are interested in hearing from Graduates, Assistants, Trainees, and intermediate Surveyors seeking the next step in their career. The company specializes in smaller, high-specification housing and refurbishments, working on brand-new builds, listed building conversions, and refurbishments. We seek someone interested in working for a smaller, friendly, financially stable business that offers a good work-life balance, career progression, and skill development support. The hiring manager prefers a Surveyor with some onsite experience working for a developer or contractor, comfortable working on site and engaging with clients and subcontractors as needed.
Joining this company offers the chance to develop an extensive portfolio, working on diverse housing schemes, including complex and challenging residential developments built to high luxury standards.
Responsibilities:
* Support senior commercial staff with contract documents, including bills of quantities with architects and clients;
* Assist in risk, value management, and cost control;
* Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks;
* Assist with valuing completed work and arranging payments;
* Maintain awareness of current building contracts;
* Understand health and safety regulations;
* Assist in preparing contracts, including material quantities;
* Visit sites, assess progress, and project future work;
* Analyze outcomes and prepare progress reports.
Skills:
* Strong numeracy and financial management skills, with ability to learn sophisticated IT packages;
* Ability to write clear, precise reports and communicate complex information simply;
* Negotiation, teamwork, and leadership skills;
* Knowledge of building technologies, processes, materials, and legal matters;
* Industry-related ONC/HNC/BSc or equivalent, including part-time study consideration;
* Experience on UK construction sites;
* Commercial and contractual awareness with a proven track record in reputable UK companies;
* Right to live and work in the UK;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
