About the Job
As a Fitness Manager you will run the day‑to‑day operations of the fitness department, lead the fitness team and ensure a safe, enjoyable, high‑quality customer experience. The role requires at least two duty‑manager shifts a week, key‑holder responsibility for opening and closing, and flexible hours as sites operate from 6am to 10pm.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver an exceptional fitness experience for members, highlighting equipment and expertise.
* Perform duty‑manager duties – opening/closing, H&S incident handling, accident reporting, safeguarding, pool hygiene and safety checks.
* Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers and prospects, handling and escalating complaints appropriately.
* Continuously review and improve fitness equipment, programmes and activities.
* Manage the fitness budget, stock takes and inventories.
* Support the centre to achieve targets and fitness KPIs.
* Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures and requirements, fixing or escalating issues as appropriate.
* Line‑manage, coach and develop the fitness team, keeping them up‑to‑date with industry developments and the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle.
Experience and Qualifications Required
* Previous experience as a Fitness Manager.
* Minimum Level 2 fitness qualification or equivalent.
* First Aid at Work qualification (preferred or work toward).
* National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) (preferred or work toward).
* Ability to meet targets and deadlines, being proactive in duties.
* Ability to mentor, motivate, coach and develop team members and customers to reach their potential.
* Excellent communication skills and experience delivering first‑class customer service (essential).
