We’re looking for a Specialist Maintenance Operative
(Painter & Decorator) to join our Property Team and help maintain the high
standards of our guest environments across Bedruthan Hotel and Spa and Scarlet
Hotel.
This is a hands-on role where your painting and
decorating expertise will play a key part in preserving the look, feel and
functionality of our hotels, spa facilities, guest rooms, apartments and public
spaces. Alongside planned preventative maintenance, you’ll support reactive
repairs and refurbishment projects, ensuring every guest-facing area remains
beautifully presented and maintained to the highest standards.
What do we want?
We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Specialist
Maintenance Operative with a painting and decorating background and strong
all-round maintenance knowledge. You’ll take pride in delivering excellent
finishes, maintaining high presentation standards, and ensuring guest spaces
remain fresh, safe and welcoming.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work,
takes ownership of tasks, and understands the importance of presentation in
delivering exceptional guest experiences.
As our hotels operate seven days a week, this role
includes a varied rota with regular weekend working as part of the standard
schedule. Weekend shifts offer the opportunity to work within the vibrant
atmosphere of our busiest guest periods, playing a key role in delivering
exceptional spa and leisure experiences when they matter most.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Respond promptly and effectively to guest and team
maintenance requests to minimise disruption
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across hotel, spa, guest
rooms, apartments and public areas
• Undertake specialist painting and decorating works including preparation,
painting, touch-ups and repairs
• Conduct daily inspections of guest and public areas to proactively identify
maintenance issues
• Maintain mechanical and plant areas in a safe, clean and organised condition
• Complete general maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, woodwork and
lock repairs
• Support refurbishment, remodelling and construction projects across the
hotels
• Maintain hotel and apartment equipment including fridges, freezers, air
conditioning filters and portable kitchen equipment
• Ensure guest-facing areas remain clean and presentable during maintenance
works
• Complete maintenance records, reports and work orders accurately
• Work collaboratively with the Property Manager and wider team to identify and
report hazards
• Attend team meetings and complete required training modules
Qualifications:
• Trade qualification in Painting & Decorating (NVQ
Level 2/3, City & Guilds or equivalent) is essential
• Proven experience in painting, decorating and building maintenance is
essential
• Previous maintenance experience in hospitality, commercial or residential
settings is desirable
• Good understanding of health and safety compliance and safe use of materials
• Additional practical trade skills (plumbing, carpentry or general repairs)
are desirable
