Logistics UK is looking for a dynamic Policy Lead to own our work across Northern Ireland championing the interests of our members and ensuring their voices are heard at the highest levels. In this influential and high profile role, you will become the go to expert across a wide portfolio of policy issues, driving forward thought leadership, building strong relationships with government, and delivering impact for one of the UK’s most essential industries. Logistics UK, formerly the Freight Transport Association is one of the biggest business groups in the UK, representing the entire industry with members from the road, rail, sea, and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods. An effective supply chain is vital to Keep Britain Trading, directly impacting over 7 million people employed in making, selling and moving the goods that affect everyone everywhere. With Brexit, technology and other disruptive forces driving changes in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK PLC. Key Responsibilities Lead the Policy & Advocacy Agenda Take ownership of Logistics UK’s policy work in Northern Ireland, identifying key issues, shaping priorities and championing member interests. Build expertise across all relevant topics, staying ahead of emerging trends and briefing colleagues to support alignment across the organisation. Influence Government & Key Stakeholders Develop strong relationships with senior government officials and industry partners to shape thinking and influence decision making. Create compelling policy proposals and positions that lead debate and reflect the needs and insights of our members. Engage & Support Our Members Manage Logistics UK’s Northern Ireland member meeting and other working groups, facilitating discussion, achieving consensus, and ensuring their views are powerfully represented. Deliver high quality reports, consultation responses, briefings, and presentations for a wide range of audiences. Represent Logistics UK Publicly Present confidently at events, conferences and member meetings, communicating complex issues with clarity and impact. Support the development of media messaging and contribute insights to our public affairs activity. Collaborate Across the Organisation Provide expert policy support to colleagues across directorates, ensuring consistency of message and supporting wider organisational goals. Play a key role in cross‑functional projects and wider business initiatives. Requirements Degree educated in a relevant subject or equivalent experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation and public speaking abilities. Confidence to represent the organisation externally at senior levels. A collaborative team player who contributes to broader policy, communications, and commercial objectives. Understanding of how public policy is developed and how to influence it effectively. Interest in logistics, transport, supply chains, or a willingness to develop your expertise. Ability and willingness to travel regularly across Ireland and the UK.
