Job Title: Pastoral and Learning Support Worker Pay Rate: £96.98 – £101.91 per day Location: Kings Norton, Birmingham Hours: 32.5 hours per week – term time only Smart Education is seeking Pastoral and Learning Support Workers to join a specialist provision in Kings Norton supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. About the Role You will work directly with pupils on both a 1:1 and small group basis, supporting them academically, emotionally, and socially to help them thrive. The role involves a strong pastoral focus and requires individuals who are caring, committed, and resilient. Key responsibilities include: Supporting children with SEMH and a range of special educational needs Delivering individual and small group interventions Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils Encouraging personal development, emotional regulation, and learning progress Promoting high standards of behaviour and wellbeing Working collaboratively with teaching staff and wider pastoral teams Requirements Applicants must demonstrate: Experience working with children and young people with SEMH or additional needs A flexible, imaginative, and solution-focused approach The ability to promote learning, engagement, and emotional wellbeing Experience supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour A relevant Level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C or above About Smart Education Smart Education is a specialist recruiter for teaching and support staff across the West Midlands.
