Youth Worker - Mental Health Transitions - No Limits
No Limits is the leading youth services charity in Southampton, supporting children and young people in the city and across Hampshire.
Your Role
You will be working with Hampshire-based young people aged 16 to 25 years, and their families, to provide mental health and emotional wellbeing support which includes connecting them with onward support services that are available and relevant to their situation and needs.
This will be delivered face to face, by telephone, email and virtual. The service will span both children’s and adults’ services, with the express aim of supporting young people to make the positive transition to adulthood whether transitioning from children’s to adult’s services or into community-based support.
Our Youth Workers are caring, collaborative and courageous professionals, who are committed to empowering children and young people to achieve positive changes in their lives.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Triaging enquiries / contacts which lead to appropriate onward support
* Act as the first point of contact and signpost young people and / or families to the relevant agency
* Assess the needs of young people and work with them and – where appropriate – their parents, carers and / or partners to navigate health, social care and community-based service
* Hold a caseload for those who are struggling to access onward support
* Provide parent / carer support when appropriate through groups and workshops
* Work as part of a wider team around the young person

You’ll have the essentials of:
* Experience of working with children and young people
* Experience of working with, and supporting children around mental health and emotional wellbeing
* Ability to build trusting and positive relationships with young people
* Experience and working knowledge of effective interventions with children and young people
* Ability to use IT to support your role, including the use of technology and Microsoft suite
* A commitment to personal growth, continuous development, and application of learning
