Senior Charge Nurse - Ward 7A, Respiratory
Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Senior Charge Nurse in the Acute Respiratory ward of QEUH. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a high‑acuity team, ensuring safe, effective, and person‑centred care.
Shift Pattern
Monday‑Friday Dayshift (variable to support the service). The post is 24/7, with responsibilities covering all extended hours of ward operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the wider nursing team, supporting effective care planning and safe discharge processes.
* Ensure continuous learning opportunities for staff, encouraging best practice and maintaining high patient care standards in line with NHS GGC Care Assurance Standards.
* Provide clinical guidance and professional management under the Lead Nurse’s supervision.
* Take 24/7 responsibility for ward management and delivery of care assurance standards.
* Demonstrate effective leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* Contribute to education and audit at ward level, showing a commitment to personal development.
* Apply local and national policies, procedures and priorities to support the team and improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered RN with substantial experience in acute respiratory or similar clinical settings.
* Proven ability to manage team dynamics in a fast‑paced environment.
* Strong leadership, clinical reasoning and communication skills.
* Evidence of involvement in education, audit or quality improvement projects.
* Understanding of statutory and local policies relevant to acute care.
