We are currently seeking a skilled, proactive and service-focused IT Technician to join a thriving and forward-thinking secondary school in Salisbury. This is a full-time, permanent position starting January 2026 (or earlier for the right candidate). About the Role
As the IT Technician, you will work as part of the school’s ICT Support Team to ensure the smooth operation of hardware, software and networks across the site. Responsibilities include:
• Providing first-line technical support to staff and students
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and network issues
• Maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, interactive screens and mobile devices
• Supporting school MIS systems and cloud-based platforms
• Assisting with the installation, configuration and upgrading of hardware/software
• Monitoring and maintaining network performance, security and backups
• Managing helpdesk tickets and ensuring timely responses
• Supporting AV equipment for lessons, assemblies and events
• Contributing to IT development projects and system improvements
This role is hands-on and requires excellent technical ability, attention to detail and strong customer service skills.
Experience and Qualifications
• Previous experience in an IT support role (school experience desirable but not essential)
• Strong working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, networks and troubleshooting
• Understanding of safeguarding and data protection within a school environment
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
• Relevant IT qualification (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) desirable
• Must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS check
