Hours/Weeks: 14.8 hours per week – 52 weeks per year Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time About The Role We are currently seeking a Technician in Construction to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group. As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through: Workshop Maintenance & Safety – Ensures all tools, equipment, and materials are secure, serviceable, and compliant with health and safety standards, maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment. Stock & Resource Management – Manages consumables, equipment inventory, and budget tracking, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining accurate records of stock and tool usage. Support for Teaching & Learning – Assists lecturers and trainers in workshop preparation, supports practical delivery, and manufactures teaching aids to enhance student learning experiences. Operational Duties & Compliance – Oversees workshop discipline, site security, and risk assessments, while ensuring all activities align with college policies and safety regulations. Student & College Engagement – Supports student development, contributes to marketing and engagement events, and upholds safeguarding, EDI, and professional standards across all construction workshop areas. About You Qualifications & Industry Experience – Holds a Level 2 NVQ/Diploma in a construction or building services trade, with hands-on experience in the construction industry and a willingness to gain First Aid and forklift certification. Technical Knowledge & Safety Awareness – Demonstrates strong understanding of safe working practices, COSHH, hand tools, and machinery, with awareness of current construction industry standards.
