The Finance Systems Team currently comprises an interim manager based in Leeds, a Finance Systems Analyst in Liverpool, and a Junior Finance Systems Analyst in Manchester.
The role of Finance Systems (Senior) Analyst involves supervising and training the Junior Systems Analyst, reporting using Power BI and SQL, resolving system issues, and driving improvements in financial processes through technology.
A project has commenced to unify data from all business functions into a data warehouse to deliver insights and self-service analytics via AI technologies. The Finance Systems Team will play a key role in supporting this project, particularly regarding finance data.
What you will be doing:
1. Supervising the junior team member, ensuring a collaborative approach to workload and knowledge sharing to upskill the team.
2. Maintaining financial systems such as 3E, Concur, and Thirdfort; resolving issues and queries.
3. Proactively identifying system issues before escalation and ensuring data integrity.
4. Managing finance system user security and permissions.
5. Handling month-end system processes and balancing (3E).
6. Developing reports using Power BI and SQL to provide actionable insights to legal teams and management.
7. Performing database queries, data analysis, audit reporting, and ad hoc reporting for Finance and the Business.
8. Participating in finance system projects, including upgrades, implementations, and integrations with other systems, both in-house and third-party.
9. Liaising with IT and third-party support regarding bugs, issues, and developments.
10. Collaborating with Finance operations to understand needs and deliver process improvements via system enhancements, integrations, Power Apps, APIs, and 3E customisation.
11. Providing technical and analytical support to end users for effective tool and process utilisation.
What we are looking for:
1. Technical proficiency with a strong understanding of finance systems, server & database structures, and data analytics tools. Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, SQL, and Office 365 is essential. Experience with APIs and Elite 3e legal software is advantageous.
2. Solid understanding of accounting principles, operational finance, and financial reporting processes.
3. Effective communication skills to engage with stakeholders internally and externally, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
