A local engineering and automotive manufacturing company are now looking to recruit a General Manager to join their team.
This is a brand new position that has come about due to growth with the group of companies.
They are looking for an operational focussed General Manager who can review costings, P&L and efficiencies and improvements. This is a blank canvass and ideal for someone wanting to make their mark.
General Manager - Job Summary
The General Manager will be the primary technical lead for vehicle builds within our vehicle fabrication operations, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality components and vehicles on time and within budget.
This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
General Manager - Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Project Planning and Management: Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned builds from concept to delivery.
* Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones, and track progress to ensure deadlines are met.
* Technical Oversight: Provide technical support throughout designated projects.
* Interpret customer design requirements, data sheets, drawings, and specifications to establish methods of manufacture and create necessary manufacturing aids and process drawings.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams, including design, development, manufacturing, quality, and finance, as well as external suppliers and contractors, to ensure seamless project execution and resolve problems.
* Quality Control and Compliance: Monitor project compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Oversee quality control processes and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
* Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, manage project budgets, track costs, and report on financial status to stakeholders.
* Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement: Identify potential problems or technical issues and lead the team in developing and implementing effective solutions.
* Drive continuous improvement activities and capture lessons learned for future projects.
General Manager - Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will come from the Automotive or Fabrication Industry or similar as a General Manager, Operations Manager or Project Manager. You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience:
* Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes
* (e.g., welding, assembly, presswork).
* Experience with P&L and costings
* Experience with LEAN and Continuous Improvement
* Ideally have an Engineering Qualification such as HNC, HND or BEng
* Desirable - Familiarity with project management methodologies and quality
* standards (APQP, PPAP, Lean principles).
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-leading skills.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
* Strong time-management, organisational, and administrative skills, with the
* ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines.
