The National Trading Standards Regional Investigations and eCrime Team, based at City of York Council is seeking an Accredited Financial Investigator on a 2 year fixed term contract. This exciting opportunity has come about as a result of previous successful prosecutions and confiscation cases, leading to Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme (ARIS) funding.
In this role you will work with our established team of investigators and AFIs to conduct high profile regional and national criminal investigations into large scale breaches of trading standards legislation, fraud and money laundering. Financial investigations are often the key to our successful prosecution of offenders and in this role, you will lead financial investigations, and develop investigative strategies in collaboration with the Senior Investigating Officer. You will be encouraged to make use of the full suite of investigative orders available. You will be expected to analyse financial data obtained under the Orders and to confidently present data to the court, as part of the prosecution case. You will work with our criminal investigators, to identify offenders and ultimately confiscate the proceeds of their criminality.
It is essential for this role for the candidate to be POCA Part 8 (AFI) accredited. Being accredited for Part 5 (civil recovery) and Part 2 (confiscation) is desirable but not essential. If you are not Part 2 (confiscation) or Part 5 (civil recovery) we would support you to obtain those accreditations.
The role is a hybrid role, working mainly at home, but also at our Hazel Court offices in York and from time to time, on site during operational work.
