Overview

fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That's why we support you to pursue a career that's unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you'll be doing

You'll need to develop, or build upon, a strong understanding of how nuclear plants behave under a wide range of fault conditions. This will draw on knowledge from system operation, core neutronics, fuel modelling, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, material properties, and degradation mechanisms. You'll then apply this understanding using computer codes to analyse plant behaviour in extreme fault or accident scenarios, providing the technical foundation for robust safety case assessments.

In this role, you may be responsible for supporting the maintenance of nuclear safety cases across different licensees and stages of the plant lifecycle. You'll carry out analysis to demonstrate that key plant parameters remain within safe operating limits during transient events, and you'll also review and approve work produced externally. You'll contribute to resolving technical Open Points and Regulatory Issues, ensuring safety is clearly evidenced and well documented.

You'll communicate your analysis effectively through clear, concise reports and presentations, while also supporting the verification and validation of models and analysis codes. Building strong relationships with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders will be key, helping to strengthen confidence in the Transient Analysis group's ability to deliver high-quality, assured technical work.

Who you are

You will have a strong foundation in science or engineering, or equivalent experience, together with the drive and willingness to progress towards Chartered status with a relevant professional body. You'll be able to apply specialist technical knowledge to complex challenges and clearly communicate outcomes to stakeholders from a variety of technical and non-technical backgrounds. Strong technical writing and communication skills are essential to succeed in this role.

You'll also have the opportunity to broaden and deepen your expertise across a range of technical areas. This includes developing knowledge of light water moderated reactors and associated systems, applying numerical transient analysis codes and interpreting results to support fault analyses, and working closely with interfacing technical disciplines.

You'll play a key role in supporting nuclear safety cases through clear, concise report writing and will engage directly with relevant regulators, building effective professional relationships along the way.

If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you! To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
