Overview
The Housekeeping Supervisor at Homewood Suites Portsmouth manages and coordinates housekeeping functions within assigned sections and assumes all managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager.
Responsibilities
1. Inspect Room Attendant's work performance daily to ensure standards and productivity are met.
2. In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager, inspect VIP rooms and report their status to the Front Office.
3. Oversee the closing of floors daily, ensuring carts are clean and stocked.
4. Complete and submit daily assignment records on time.
5. Maintain key control procedures.
6. Handle Lost and Found items according to standards.
7. Monitor cleanliness of carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
8. Oversee daily duty assignments for staff.
9. Maintain communication with the Front Office and Engineering via pager or radio.
10. Report progress on out-of-order rooms to management.
11. Initiate and follow up on work orders for repairs.
12. Assist in training housekeeping staff.
13. Perform room cleaning as needed.
14. Ensure biannual cleaning projects are completed.
15. Strive to ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
2. Two to three years of progressive hotel or related experience preferred.
3. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
4. Ability to stand throughout the shift.
5. Effective verbal and written communication skills, friendly and courteous demeanor.
