Infrastructure Engineer
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced ICT Infrastructure Engineer to join a technically focused ICT team. This role places significant emphasis on on-premises infrastructure, including server hardware, Windows Server, networking, storage, and related services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and improving core infrastructure systems. Basic cloud knowledge (Azure and Office 365) is required, but the primary focus is on the stability, performance, and security of the on-prem environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and support the organisation's on-premises infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers
* Configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise networks, including switches, firewalls, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP
* Administer and support Windows Server environments and associated technologies
* Manage storage infrastructure, including ISCSI SANs and backup solutions
* Provide day-to-day support for Azure and Office 365 platforms
* Support and manage Active Directory and Entra ID
* Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell scripting
* Deliver infrastructure projects, upgrades, and system migrations
* Ensure systems are secure, patched, and operating within agreed SLAs
* Maintain technical documentation, including low-level designs and system configurations
* Collaborate with colleagues in the ICT function to support business operations
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong hands-on experience with on-premises infrastructure
* Advanced knowledge of networking, including VLANs, firewalls, routing, DNS, and DHCP
* Solid understanding of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and Group Policy
* Experience with VMware, RDS, and physical server environments
* Working knowledge of Azure (IaaS, identity, virtual networking, etc.)
* Experience supporting Office 365, including Exchange Online and Teams
* PowerShell scripting for automation and task management
* Experience with SCCM, Intune, and Microsoft OS troubleshooting
* Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
* Knowledge of ISCSI SANs and backup/disaster recovery systems
