MacGregor Black are partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation on the search for a Head of Financial Planning & Commercial Finance. This is a permanent role based in Northampton.
This is a high-profile, hands‑on leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape financial insight, drive commercial decision‑making, and enhance performance across a large, multi‑division business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the financial planning and commercial finance function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning across multiple manufacturing divisions.
* Act as a trusted business partner to operational and commercial leadership, providing insight-driven recommendations that drive profitability and strategic growth.
* Deliver in-depth analysis on cost structures, product profitability, pricing strategies, and operational efficiency.
* Own the production of management reporting, board packs, and key financial metrics, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and actionable insights.
* Continuously improve financial processes, modelling, and reporting tools to support business agility and informed decision-making.
* Evaluate investment proposals, capital projects, and market expansion initiatives through rigorous financial analysis.
* Lead, develop, and mentor a high‑performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant experience in financial planning and commercial finance within manufacturing or industrial environments.
* Strong commercial acumen with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and influence strategic decisions.
* Advanced analytical skills, including financial modelling; experience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau is advantageous.
* Hands‑on, proactive, and resilient, thriving in dynamic, change-driven settings.
* Experience establishing high-quality reporting frameworks, cost models, and commercial insight processes.
