Ref: GRE/2026 Job Title: Reactive Breakdown Engineer (Electrical) Reports To: Operations Manager Contract and Benefits Permanent, full-time (38 hours per week) with potential overtime. 29 days annual leave per year (including 8 statutory holidays). Qualifications and Experience Applicants must be time-served in an Electrical/Engineering discipline and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 Diploma in an Electrical/Engineering discipline. It is essential that applicants have: Proven experience in electrical installation and reactive breakdown environments Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills A strong understanding of switchgear, PLCs, VSDs and control panels A self-motivated and flexible approach to work A full driving licence and the ability to travel to customer sites Role Summary The Reactive Breakdown Engineer is responsible for responding to electrical faults and breakdowns, carrying out diagnostics, repairs, and restoration of electrical systems at industrial sites. The role also includes supporting installation activities where required. The successful candidate must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics and complete all Company documentation, including Engineer Report Sheets and Daily Time Sheets, accurately and on time. Key Responsibilities Respond to reactive breakdowns and callouts, diagnose electrical faults, carry out repairs, and return systems to service safely and efficiently Organise and manage jobs on-site to ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard Comply with all customer site rules and procedures, including attending site inductions where required Communicate professionally with customers and suppliers, providing high levels of customer service and promoting the Company positively Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Company ISO Management Systems and contribute to the continual improvement culture Maintain a strong Duty of Care and uphold high standards of Health and Safety, ensuring personal actions do not place colleagues, customers, or the public at risk Ensure Company vehicles, tools, and equipment under your control are maintained in good condition and that the Company Housekeeping Policy is followed Support other departments within the Company as required Undertake additional responsibilities when required, such as First Aider, Employee Committee involvement, etc. Maintain or obtain additional licences, training, or qualifications as required (e.g. Forklift, Scissor Lift/Boom) Carry out reasonable ad hoc duties in line with the operational needs of the Company This list is not exhaustive.
