Job Description
Financial Operations
3. Manage daily cash flow, including bank monitoring, payments, and cashbook updates.
4. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all systems are up to date.
Reporting & Accounts
5. Prepare monthly payroll, journals, and reconciliations (including pensions and petty cash).
6. Produce quarterly management accounts, VAT returns, and cashflow reports.
7. Prepare draft annual accounts and liaise with external accountants to finalise.
Compliance & Filings
8. Ensure timely filing of tax returns, confirmation statements, and statutory reports.
9. Manage VAT, corporation tax, and regulatory submissions (e.g., ONS, charity accounts
Business Partnering
10. Work closely with the Managing Director and Board on financial matters and risk analysis
11. Attend board meetings and provide insight on cashflow, investments, and project risk.
Property & Investment Oversight
12. Reconcile rental income and maintain property-related financial schedules.
13. Review financial standing of prospective tenants and report findings
Operational & Administrative Support
14. Oversee company administration, including Companies House updates and new entity setup.
15. Liaise with external partners, bookkeeper, and investment managers.
16. Support personal tax and financial matters for directors/shareholders when required.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Financial Controller should have:
17. Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
18. Strong knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., Sage) and financial reporting
19. Experience with VAT, payroll, statutory accounts, and compliance requirements
20. Ability to manage multiple entities and complex financial structures
21. Strong analytical skills, particularly cashflow forecasting and risk assessment
22. Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
23. Confident communicator, able to liaise with directors and external stakeholders
24. Proactive, hands-on approach with ability to work independently
25. Experience in property and/or investment environments desirable
26. Willingness to support wider administrative and ad hoc financial tasks
