Shift Pattern/Working Hours Summary: Your standard working hours are 40 per week (173.33 average standard hours per month) on a 2 week rotating pattern. Week 1 is Monday – Friday 06:00 – 14:00 and Week 2 is Monday to Thursday 14:00 – Midnight. The role may require longer hours and weekends from time to time.
Main Purpose of the Role
The main purpose of the role is to machine forgings to specified drawings. The Cell consists of 2 CNC and 2 manual machines. It is a fast-moving operation that receives material from the Forge department and delivers to the Heat Treatment department. The position will occasionally require the applicant to be flexible across both Pre-heat and Radius cells to meet customer requirements, with good communication across departments to plan workload and optimise utilisation of the Cell.
Key Tasks And Accountabilities
* H&S – Work in a safe and responsible manner adopting FSG Standards (for own and others’ safety).
* Conduct pre-shift H&S checks as specified (e.g., Hoist Crane).
* Maintain a high standard of workplace housekeeping (5S duties).
* Ensure all quality procedures and processes are followed.
* Plan work to best utilise machines.
* Machine parts to drawing.
* Booking out of work and work time against jobs.
* Use measuring equipment (micrometers, vernier, wall thickness meter, surface roughness gauge).
* Material movements.
* Cross training in other Front-End Positions.
* Any other ad-hoc duties as required.
The Applicant
Essential
* Machining working within +/-0.05 mm.
* CNC turning experience.
* Understanding Fanuc CNC controls.
* Attention to detail.
* Read and understand drawings.
* Competent in basic IT skills.
Desirable
* Apprentice Trained – Mechanical Manufacturing or equivalent.
* Manual milling/turning experience.
* Overhead crane training.
* FLT training.
* Abrasive wheel training.
