We are seeking a proactive Supplier Development Engineer to support our client’s Purchasing team in improving supplier performance and strengthening supply chain. This role focuses on quality, cost, delivery, and project management while assisting in the selection and development of new suppliers.
The Supplier Development Engineer will:
Drive supplier improvement using methodologies such as 8D problem-solving, JIT, and error-proofing.
Support quality initiatives for high-risk materials and specialist components.
Develop and manage supplier panels across multiple commodities and technologies.
Conduct cost analysis and negotiate best-price solutions with suppliers.
Perform new supplier assessments, audit, and manage on-time delivery for projects.
Monitor and visualise supplier performance, implementing corrective action plans where needed.
The Supplier Development Engineer will have:
Strong background in supplier development and technical problem-solving.
Experience with quality tools (8D, VSM, error-proofing) and production control methods.
Knowledge of IATF/ISO standards and supplier auditing processes.
Ability to analyse costs and negotiate effectively with suppliers.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, nationally and internationally.
Proficiency in preparing sourcing documents and managing SAP or similar systems.
