Salary: £27,000 per annum (depending on experience/skills) Hours: 40 hours per week Working Pattern: Mon–Fri, 8:30am–5:00pm Locations: Multiple sites across Leicester, Coventry & Warwickshire About the Role We are looking for a reliable, proactive Caretaker / Maintenance Operative to join our team and provide high‑quality maintenance and caretaking support across multiple sites. You will play an essential role in ensuring buildings, equipment, and surrounding areas are safe, secure, and well‑maintained. Key Responsibilities Building Maintenance & Safety Operate and monitor heating systems, ensuring they run efficiently, report defects promptly. Conduct weekly lighting tests and replace minor components (bulbs, tubes, fuses, starters, diffusers). Clear blockages in sinks, toilets, drains, and grease traps and address spillages. Ensure gutters, gullies, and drains remain free from debris. Handyperson Tasks Painting, decorating, and minor plaster repairs. First‑line joinery maintenance (e.g., tightening window hinges, door handle repairs, temporary repairs after vandalism). Basic plumbing (unblocking sinks, adjusting taps). Internal glazing support, including boarding broken windows when required. Operational Support Porterage duties, including moving and setting up furniture. Monitor and replenish stock of consumables (e.g., bulbs, filters). Maintain accurate records such as: Intruder alarm logbook Asbestos visual checks Legionella temperature logs Heating system logs Take meter readings as needed. Assist contractors and visitors attending sites. Health, Safety & Compliance Report gas, water, or electrical faults and document minor repairs. Support weekly fire alarm testing and evacuation procedures. Maintain tidy external grounds and occasional gardening. Maintain the company vehicle (if supplied), reporting any issues.
