Offer description

We are currently recruiting for a Plant Machinery Mechanic located in the Aberfeldy area to join our team. As a Plant Machinery Mechanic you will be responsible for carrying out the service, maintenance, and repair of heavy plant machinery, light commercials and equipment, ensuring all machinery is safe, reliable, and available for operational use.

Responsibilities include:

* Inspect, service, and repair heavy plant machinery (e.g., excavators, loaders, dump trucks, crushers, screeners LCVs and other attachments ).

* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools.

* Perform routine maintenance and safety checks to reduce breakdown risk and prolong equipment life.

* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules in line with manufacturer and company standards.

* Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, performing on-site repairs when necessary.

* Replace or repair defective parts and systems, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

* Ensure all work complies with health & safety legislation, company policies, and industry regulations.

* Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and servicing using job sheets or digital systems.

* Work independently or as part of a team, liaising with workshop manager to minimise downtime.

* Keep workshop, tools, and equipment in safe working condition.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Proven experience as a plant fitter/mechanic, preferably within the construction or agricultural sectors.

* Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.

* Ability to diagnose and repair faults using modern diagnostic equipment.

* Competence in welding and fabrication (desirable).

* Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.

* Strong awareness of health & safety practices.

* Full driving licence.

Qualifications

* NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.

* CSCS/CPCS card (preferred but not always essential).

* OEM/manufacturer training (desirable).

* Flexible approach to working hours, including potential call-outs.
