You will be working with a young person, helping him to access social and after-school activities. Duties will include carrying/fetching, organising access arrangements, and driving a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle to and from sporting and social events, football matches, power chair football training, shopping trips, Warhammer club, coffee shops, bowling, cinema, meeting with friends, etc. Helping with dressing as necessary and ensuring access to toilets / overseeing safety. Looking for a fun, self-motivated, and practical individual who can make sensible decisions, balancing safety with living life to the full. Applicant will need to be available for weekends.

About the Role


Duties and Responsibilities

* Support and/or prompt with personal care, including toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, and dressing.
* Support to get to and from school, work, college, or social activities.
* Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
* Assist and encourage socialisation and participation in activities.

The individual’s needs may vary daily, and tasks may reflect this. You may be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility to report all accidents immediately, report hazards, and ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs covered).


Transport Requirement

Full driving licence is essential, as the role requires you to drive the employer’s vehicle. For insurance purposes, you must be 18 or older.

* Honest, reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Patience, supportiveness, and caring attitude.
* Good listening skills and ability to provide non-judgemental emotional support.
* Empathy.
* Previous caring experience is not essential but a genuine interest in supporting people with disabilities or illnesses to achieve their goals is required.
* Ability to work flexibly, adapting to the employer’s needs daily.
* Flexibility is an advantage, as hours may vary.


Required Training

Successful candidates will undertake necessary training, including Moving and Handling, provided by the employer.
