Please note this is a permanent position Working hours: 37 hours per week Interview Date: Week commencing Monday 20th April 2026 Job Summary: We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, creative and passionate support worker within the Day Shelter programme. The programme offers support through a wide range of services to those who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless and provides support to specific housing and wellbeing needs on a short term basis. More than just practical support, we also provide a safe, secure Christian environment in which every individual will know that they are valued and respected. Key Responsibilities: This role with The Salvation Army is an inspirational one and key to achieving successful outcomes for clients. As a motivated and dynamic Support Worker you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality programme of support which promotes client choice and control. For part of the role you will work as part of a team to undertake two street outreach activities each week with partner agencies at 6am and 8am and to attend multi-agency meetings as required. For part of the role you will work with 4 clients in two 2-bedroom properties to assess clients move on support needs and to assist them with working towards independent living. You will assist them in securing suitable, sustainable accommodation for independent living. The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate: Knowledge of the main support needs which are commonly faced by homeless and vulnerable clients. Ability to work in a busy environment. Be solution focused. Show good time management skills and can demonstrate ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure.
