Exhibitions

The Exhibitions Team creates all gallery content in The Tank Museum, from large-scale exhibitions to one-off showcase displays. Working with a range of external companies and in-house departments, the team carries out research, produces designs and writes graphic panels, object labels, interactive briefs, and audio-visual scripts for each new exhibition. The department also plays a key role in collecting oral history interviews and carrying out in-depth evaluation for all new exhibitions. In 2027 the museum will be opening two new exhibitions and the Exhibitions Project Manager will play an important role in ensuring these new exhibitions are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Accountabilities:

* Manage the internal Gallery maintenance procedure on all existing exhibitions - distributing work to the internal maintenance and IT teams or external contractors.
* Lead on exhibition risk assessments, and all work therein, including method statements and insurance documentation in advance of site works. Provide inductions to and supervise contractors on site, ensuring all Health and Safety rules are upheld.
* Co-ordinate internal exhibition upgrade projects with the Exhibition team.
* Create tender documentation for appointment of contractors for structural, graphic, interactive, showcase, object mount, lighting, electrical, and decorative works.
* Produce and issue supplier contracts.
* Set up meetings and monitor progress at key milestones through the life of all exhibition projects ensuring high quality of delivery.
* Process contractors invoices and assist with budget management.
* Communicate information to the wider organisation via presentation and email updates, also represent department colleagues in matters concerning Exhibitions where appropriate.
* Support and work key Museum events such as Tiger Day and Tankfest.
* For each project obtain and file relevant certification and O&M manuals, archive documents and co-ordinate post-project analysis and evaluation to identify areas for improvement.
* At times assist with exhibition research and content production.

What you'll bring:

* Relevant degree or professional/vocational qualification in relevant field. (Desirable PRINCE2 Project Management qualification/IOSH trained/NEBOSH trained).
* Experience of project management - ideally in a museum or heritage environment.
* Understanding of Agile and Waterfall Project Management techniques, with a sound knowledge of construction, design & management regulations, health & safety regulation including production of risk assessments.
* Excellent organisation and time management skills, verbal communication skills
* Excellent IT skills, including Powerpoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a willingness to learn new skills and undertake training where required.
* A confident, positive person who can cope with the pressure of meeting deadlines., who is also a team player and can work with a range of people internally and external companies.
* Willingness to travel within the UK.

What you'll get:
