Job Description: The role will develop your engineering skills to become a confident, positive and flexible acoustics hardware engineer with well-honed technical knowledge gained from both academic commitments and on-the-job training. You will be part of a team that supports systems and equipment solutions currently in service with our customer, providing opportunities to work on hardware engineering tasks such as research and design, test and site visits, and cross‑sector collaboration.
* Modelling acoustics effects on sensors and their performance under differing conditions
* Production of digital and physical models
* Specifying requirements and designing solutions
* Undertaking in‑water and in‑air testing
* Working with specialist teams (e.g., materials) to understand impacts on acoustic solutions

Apprentice Programme: You will study towards a BEng in Electro‑Mechanical Engineering at Nottingham University under the Level 6 Electro‑Mechanical Degree Apprenticeship. The programme runs for five years, with one day per week devoted to academic study and four days in the business applying new skills to real‑life projects. On completion you will hold a BSc in Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, a Level 6 degree apprenticeship qualification, and transition into a permanent role within the business.
Requirements:
* 3 A Levels (BBB) including Maths (excluded A Levels: Citizenship Skills, General Studies, Critical Thinking) or an equivalent engineering BTEC qualification, preceding level apprenticeship, or T Level
* 5 GCSEs 9–4 (A‑C), including Maths and English
* Permanent right to work in the UK
* Capability to obtain BPSS and SC security clearance prior to commencement

Assessment Centres: Held between February – May 2026. Induction week for all graduates and apprentices runs from 7 September – 11 September 2026.
