Overview
To assist both the Crown & Bridge and Prosthetics Dental Laboratories with a range of routine (process working) and non-routine tasks within the unit; produce laboratory plaster models; articulate study casts; digital scanning and designing of models; design digital models from intra oral scans; measure and replenish materials and chemicals; collect and deliver items of work within the department areas; clean and carry out basic maintenance tasks and assist/complete laboratory administration work. The post holder will also assist with pouring working models for technicians in both laboratories. The role will involve a period of basic training, supported by in house vocational training. The post holder will be requested to work across both laboratories within the trust.

Responsibilities
* Provide plaster models to laboratory and clinical staff when required, ensuring quality control measures are met.
* Articulate models for treatment planning using Denar and Dentatus facebows.
* Scan models using CAD technology to assist technicians on site.
* Upload files from intra oral design centres and transfer to laboratory scanners.
* Design working models for both laboratories using CAD technology based on data from intra oral scanners.
* Maintain milling units and 3D printing machines; manage in-house printing units.
* Assist in laboratory administration and clerical work, including computing data and filing laboratory records; assist in data retrieval for research programs within the department.
* Follow department policy and guidelines regarding infection control; comply with laboratory and current health & safety and COSHH legislation.
* Provide training for staff and students to use milling units and 3D printers.
* Communicate with staff, students and senior Technicians to understand the complexities of producing devices.
* Be responsible for manufacturing soft bite raisers, essix retainers, maxillary and mandibular special trays, implant guides and stents, radiographic stents, exaclear stents, wax rims, diagnostic wax ups, designing and milling single unit crowns, 3D printed models and bleaching trays.
* Manage/organise daily workloads and prioritise multiple requests; ensure effective time management in line with lab protocols.
* Participate in day-to-day maintenance of equipment in the Fixed & Removable Laboratories and report faults to the laboratory manager.
* Prepare/decant hazardous COSHH materials; follow infection control policies.
* Maintain compliance with health & safety and COSHH legislation; ensure safe handling and operation of laboratory equipment (e.g., high-speed model trimmer/handpieces).
* Be aware of MHRA registration policy and departmental registration where applicable.
* Identify training needs and participate in performance development reviews with line manager.
* Follow best practice/standard operating procedures and seek guidance for non-routine duties as required.
* Follow local policy and procedures and suggest changes that affect the role.
* Adhere to Health and Safety guidance, Trust Health and Safety policy and other Trust policies.
