Job Description
Reporting to the Traffic Management Manager, the Traffic Management Operative will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic management as part of a Traffic Management crew. The role includes installing Traffic Management closures on the M40 to Chapter 8 standards and deploying cones, signs, frames, sandbags, and other equipment on both high and low-speed roads. The candidate should be able to work independently and assist the Lead Traffic Management Operative in leading team members, supporting all operational aspects of the maintenance contract on the M40 Motorway.
Key Responsibilities
1. Install planned and emergency Traffic Management closures compliant with Chapter 8 and the National Highways Sector Scheme standards.
2. Assist in completing all required paperwork accurately and promptly.
3. Maintain Traffic Management closures according to Chapter 8 guidelines, ensuring safety for road users.
4. Install and remove signed diversion routes on the M40 and local authority roads.
5. Perform depot duties such as cleaning signs and cones, filling sandbags, and maintaining tools and equipment.
6. Maintain vehicles and equipment, reporting issues to the Lead Operative.
7. Participate in briefings and training to ensure safety and sustainability.
8. Report hazards and take action to mitigate risks.
9. Ensure operations comply with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
1. Current Traffic Management Operative qualification (12A/B).
2. HGV Category C driving license (preferable).
3. Minimum 1 year experience in the role (preferable).
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Attention to detail.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Strong organizational skills.
8. Adaptability to changing environments.
