Overview
Occupational Therapist required to join an award-winning Rheumatology team. The Occupational Therapy Service diagnoses and treats occupational performance problems in self-care, work and leisure activities. Opportunity to develop skills in management of rheumatoid hand, splinting, fatigue management, and workplace support.
Patients are seen mainly as outpatients and in the community, with options for telephone or virtual (near me) appointments. The service provides a rolling programme of group work (face to face and virtual) and ward consultancy. IT systems and virtual technology are essential, and the post is based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital with the ability to travel throughout Fife.
The team comprises doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, rehabilitation support workers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, psychologists and psychology assistants. You will participate in service improvement activities and use outcome measures to evaluate clinical practice and department performance. There is an MDT in-service, audit and research programme, and opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate training.

Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat occupational performance problems in self-care, work and leisure activities within rheumatology care.
* Develop and manage skills in rheumatoid hand management, splinting, fatigue management and workplace support.
* Provide outpatient, community-based, telephone or virtual assessments and interventions; participate in rolling group programmes (face to face and virtual); and offer ward consultancy as required.
* Utilise IT systems and virtual technology as an essential part of clinical practice.
* Contribute to service improvement activities and use outcome measures to evaluate practice and department performance.
* Engage in MDT in-service, audit, research activities and provide opportunities for undergraduate/postgraduate training.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Educated to degree level; minimum of Band 5 experience of working with long-term conditions/rheumatic diseases.
* Ability to travel throughout Fife and operate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Monthly supervision and annual review; commitment to ongoing professional development is expected.
* Proficiency with IT systems and virtual care platforms.
