Financial Crime Risk & Controls Specialist (Transaction Monitoring)

Join us as a Financial Crime Risk and Controls Specialist (Transaction Monitoring) at Barclays where you will help shape the future of banking by designing, developing and consulting on the bank’s internal controls framework and supporting policies and standards across the organisation, ensuring it is robust, effective, and aligned to the bank’s overall strategy and risk appetite.

To be successful as a Financial Crime Risk and Controls Specialist (Transaction Monitoring), you should have:



* Demonstrable knowledge and experience working within Transaction Monitoring (TMRA, SAM8).
* An understanding of transaction monitoring, AML frameworks and methodologies.
* Knowledge of the regulatory environment relating to financial crime.
* Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
* Prepare transactional risk assessments, considering money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crime risks
* Provide strategic direction on continuous improvements to the transaction monitoring framework.
* Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations for change in Transaction Monitoring processes.
* Participation in projects and initiatives to improve Transaction Monitoring efficiency and effectiveness.
* A broad understanding and/or experience within Financial Crime.
* Governance and oversight knowledge experience.
* Stakeholder management up to senior level.
* Drafting reports and presentation skills.


Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include


* Some form of Financial crime qualification i.e. ICA, ACAMS, etc.
* Change management experience.

This role can be based in London, Northampton or Glasgow.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and consult on the bank’s internal controls framework and supporting policies and standards across the organisation, ensuring it is robust, effective, and aligned to the bank’s overall strategy and risk appetite.

Accountabilities


* Identification and analysis of emerging and evolving risks across functions to understand their potential impact, and likelihood.
* Communication of the purpose, structure, and importance of the control framework to all relevant stakeholders, including senior management and audit.
* Support to the development and implementation of the bank's internal controls framework and principles tailored to the banks specific needs and risk profile including design, monitoring, and reporting initiatives .
* Monitoring and maintenance of the control's frameworks, to ensure compliance and adjust and update as internal and external requirements change.
* Embedment of the control framework across the bank through cross collaboration, training sessions and awareness campaigns which fosters a culture of knowledge sharing and improvement in risk management and the importance of internal control effectiveness.

* Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
* Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
* Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
* Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
* Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
* Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
* Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
* Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
