Bank Public Health Dietetic Support Worker

The opportunity has arisen to employ Dietetic Support Workers on the bank at CTMUHB to work with children and families or adults to deliver a range of community based initiatives; utilising a range of agreed approaches to support positive changes to food, nutrition, and physical activity behaviours. They will support the local delivery and evaluation of Nutrition Skills for LifeTM services.
The successful candidates will receive a range of training opportunities and work alongside fellow Dietetic Assistant Practitioners in Public Health Dietetics, under the guidance of the Senior Public Health Dietitians. They will receive weekly supervision sessions with a registered dietitian and will work closely with a range of partner agencies to promote positive healthy lifestyle behaviours.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will be expected to take a range of anthropometric measurements
* Provide a vital link between primary care professionals and the community they are working in, to support and empower service users to make the changes they identify to improve their health and wellbeing
* Work in partnership, ensuring good communication with the multidisciplinary team e.g. medical staff, Public Health, community nurses, Social Services, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and other areas appropriate
* On a one to one basis offer information and guidance to service users to support and encourage them to improve their health
* Undertake clinical interventions delegated by a registered Dietitian

Person Specification
Qualifications and/or Knowledge
* Working at NVQ level 3 in Health or Health and Social care (or equivalent)
Experience
* Previous relevant experience of working within health care settings.
Aptitude and Abilities Skills
* A high level of interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to engage members of the public. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Clinical skills as outlined in job description Motivational Skills - able to enthuse and motivate others
