About The Role
Balfour Beatty is looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our Power T&D Team on the Skye 132kV Reinforcement project. The role will be based out of our site office at Glen Mor, Invergarry near Fort Augustus and will include frequent travel to the Isle of Skye (company car provided).
About The Project
Balfour Beatty is providing technical solutions for a new 137 km, 132 kV double‑circuit overhead line between Fort Augustus and Edinbane substations, as well as new sealing end compounds to link the overhead line to the underground network, ultimately connecting the Isle of Skye and Western Isles to mainland Scotland. The project will ensure a secure and clean supply of electricity to thousands of homes and businesses across the Hebrides and West Highlands.
What you’ll be doing
* Fully understand and support delivery of UK HSW Strategy.
* Contribute to the implementation, delivery and review of the Zero‑Harm Action Plan and Sustainability Action Plan.
* Support the delivery of the HSW Key Performance Indicators at project and business levels.
* Support work‑winning teams with quality and innovative HSW responses for bids, proposals and PQQs.
* Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents and near‑miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and BMS requirements.
* In conjunction with operational management complete a local and bespoke risk‑based Service Level Agreement with each project, reviewed quarterly.
* Undertake regular site inspections as per project risk matrix.
* Produce formal reports using the Project Portal to review HSW performance against UK regulatory framework and BMS requirements.
* Undertake regular checks on Health and Safety Risk Management to ensure risks and opportunities are identified and implemented.
The Following Qualities / Experience Required
* NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate or equivalent.
* Technical Membership of IOSH.
* Ability to influence and promote a positive HS&E culture.
* Knowledge in incident investigation.
* Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework.
* Ability to prepare formal written reports on HS&W topics.
* Ability to undertake project planning and basic project management.
* Commitment to continual learning to refine expertise and add value to customers and Balfour Beatty.
* Broad experience of construction and civils projects (or equivalent sector experience).
* Ability to engage and converse at all levels.
