Overview

As a HEO Team Leader within Supervision, you will lead and manage a team responsible for supervising and supporting Deputies appointed by the Court of Protection, in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act, associated regulations, Code of Practice, Deputy Standards and internal guidance. You will engage with stakeholders (internal and external) to develop relationships and raise the profile of the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). You will demonstrate strong leadership and champion the values of the OPG, guiding your team and handling customer enquiries from deputies relating to the role and statutory functions of the Public Guardian.


Responsibilities

* Lead your team in the office and remotely, maintaining a positive approach and focusing on top priorities.
* Communicate with your team, senior managers, colleagues and stakeholders with clarity and professionalism, reflecting the OPG's values.
* Provide appropriate support to colleagues regarding well-being; ensure staff have resources, expertise and support to perform at a high level.
* Monitor and evaluate performance, celebrate successes and address concerns or issues as they arise.
* Ensure you and your team are aware of MoJ/OPG priorities and plans; work with Legal, Policy and other teams to deliver these.
* Take responsibility for your own Health and Safety and the safety of others in line with OPG procedures.
* Identify training needs across the team and take responsibility for professional development; support your team to develop.
* Follow all relevant OPG policies, protocols and procedures.
* Contribute to local management meetings and cross-site forums; lead or participate in relevant working groups and committees.


Requirements and Qualifications

* Ability to lead and motivate teams, drive change, secure high performance and embed excellent customer service.
* Ability to work with leaders, colleagues, the organisation and external stakeholders.
* Self-starter with the initiative to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong relationship management, planning skills and a track record of delivering to tight timescales.
* Ability to analyse statistical data and develop use of management information to support improvement.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Proficient in standard Microsoft Office products.
* Desirable: Knowledge of the MCA and Code of Practice (post-induction) and understanding of Court of Protection, legal and policy decisions and how to operationalise them.


Working Arrangements

Location: Embankment House with hybrid working in line with Civil Service requirements. Occasional travel to Birmingham and other office locations may be required. Part-time minimum: 29:36 hours over 4 days. Hybrid working arrangements depend on business needs and local estate capacity; arrangements will be discussed and reviewed with the successful candidate.
