Analytical Scientist - Media R&D

Lonza is looking for a dedicated Analytical Scientist to join the Media R&D team, working on innovative assays and high-performance bioprocessing solutions.
Key responsibilities:
* Perform complex analytical experiments using techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, CE, Mass Spectrometry, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
* Interpret and critically assess experimental data, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for deeper investigation.
* Contribute to experimental design and method development to support media optimization and assay robustness.
* Train and mentor junior associates, providing technical guidance and ensuring best laboratory practices.
* Analyze and present results in clear, actionable formats for cross-functional teams and project collaborators.
* Participate in project planning and timeline development, contributing scientific insights to media innovation strategy.
* Collaborate closely with upstream and downstream teams to integrate analytical outputs into the broader R&D pipeline.
* Continuously improve analytical workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and reproducibility.
* Perform other duties as assigned, aligned with evolving project and business needs.
Key requirements:
* BSc/MSc/PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
* Proven experience in an R&D or GMP environment, preferably within biopharma, media development, or biologics.
* Strong hands-on expertise in HPLC and other analytical techniques.
* Highly analytical approach – you thrive on problem-solving, questioning data, and critical thinking.
* Excellent documentation and communication skills.
* Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.
