Overview
The Community Payback Supervisor coordinates and supports the work of offenders serving community sentences. You will supervise unpaid work placements, organise site logistics, and collaborate with probation staff to ensure tasks are completed safely and effectively.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and motivate offenders to complete required manual tasks, such as clearing overgrowth, restoring public spaces, planting trees, and graffiti removal.
* Plan and deliver weekly work placements, ensuring attendance and progress against targets.
* Drive service vehicles to transport offenders and equipment as required.
* Maintain accurate records of work hours, tasks performed, and any incidents or compliance issues.
* Demonstrate good practice and support offenders in developing employability skills.
* Work flexible hours, including frequent weekends and occasional evenings, and accept a 50% higher rate for weekend work.
* Assist in the assessment and development of community payback programmes.
Working Arrangements & Hours
* Full-time: 37 hours per week (standard working days, with some weekend work).
* Flexible and part‑time options available where the role’s demands can be met.
* Hybrid working arrangements may be possible within the United Kingdom.
* Working pattern may include weekend and evening hours; higher rates apply for weekend work.
* Rest breaks will be provided according to operational needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Full UK Manual Driving Licence (automatic licence holders will not be considered).
* Experience supervising teams or managing work placements is advantageous.
* Knowledge of probation or community service work is desirable.
* Right to work in the United Kingdom and meet all Civil Service immigration requirements.
* Possible security and identity checks required.
* Will be assessed against the Civil Service Competency Based Framework (CBF) for salary progression.

* Starting salary: £26,475 (pro‑rata).
