About the Role
As Building Surveyor at Erewash Borough Council, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the planned and reactive maintenance for the council’s property assets.
What You Will Do
* Help maintain and improve the Council’s buildings by planning, delivering and reviewing both planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
* Carry out building condition inspections, monitor contractor performance, and update maintenance plans.
* Ensure strong health and safety compliance and support colleagues in Engineering, Building Compliance, and Corporate Health & Safety.
* Make informed decisions about maintenance and repair work prioritisation.
* Manage budgets, monitor spending, and certify contractor payments in line with contract requirements.
* Work closely with internal teams and external partners to support sustainability, energy efficiency, and the effective delivery of building projects.
About You
* Experience managing maintenance programmes, building inspections, contract administration, and PPM in line with BS8210 and supervising construction works.
* CITB⁻SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or similar.
* Strong knowledge of construction, building pathology, procurement, H&S legislation, and IT skills.
* A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle.
Ideally you will have
* Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, CABE).
* NEBOSH Construction certificate.
* Knowledge of sustainability, CAD, and local government environments.
* Degree or HNC/HND in building construction.
