Hays is proud to be exclusively partnered with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) to recruit a Quantity Surveyor into their Lancaster West Estate (LWE) team which is one of London’s most high-profile and impactful regeneration and investment programmes.
The OpportunityThis is a unique opportunity to join RBKC’s Housing & Social Investment directorate, working within the Lancaster West Estate (LWE) team, delivering a major £500m capital investment programme over the next 9 years. The programme spans:
1. Building fabric and sustainability improvements
2. Decent Homes works
3. Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) upgrades
You’ll play a key role in ensuring strongmercial management, value for money, and successful delivery across aplex and high-value portfolio of works.
The RoleAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of cost andmercial management across multiple projects from inception through topletion.Key responsibilities include:
4. Managing financial performance, cost control and reporting across capital works
5. Reviewing contractor valuations, variations, and final accounts
6. Supporting procurement and tender processes, including tender evaluation
7. Producing cost estimates, forecasts, and monthly expenditure reports
8. Identifying and managingmercial risks
9. Working closely with project teams, consultants, and contractors
10. Ensuring contracts are administered in line with regulations and best practice
11. Supporting and mentoring junior members of themercial team
About YouWe’re looking for amercially minded, collaborative professional who thrives in aplex delivery environment.You will have:
12. A degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
13. Proven experience (5+ years) in cost management within housing, capital works, or similar sectors
14. Strong knowledge of construction contracts and current regulations
15. Experience managing contractors and supply chains
16. Excellent analytical, financial, andmunication skills
17. A proactive, solutions-focused approach
Previous experience within a local authority or social housing environment would be advantageous.
