The KBR UK Statutory Reporting team is looking for a Financial Accountant Reporting into the Director – UK & Europe Statutory Compliance, based in Leatherhead, the individual will interact directly with the wider Financial Reporting function, based in Leatherhead and Chennai.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Group’s UK Statutory Accounting process at both an individual entity and regional consolidation level. The individual will be asked to perform technical research/analysis for material transactions and if the applicant is seeking a permanent role, be an active participant in the improvement of financial reporting systems and processes. The role offers exposure to KBR’s global finance teams.
The position is based in KBR’s Leatherhead Campus but with flexible working patterns as required.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Calculate and prepare journal entries for booking into KBR’s US GAAP General Ledger systems.
2. Identify and prepare journals to reflect any statutory adjustments required to complete KBR’s UK GAAP entity level accounts.
3. Own the preparation of Trial Balances and draft financial statements for a selection of KBR’s UK Legal Entities.
4. Collate responses to internal and external audit information requests.
5. Engage with peers in management/project accounting roles to source, understand data.
6. Explain and support management in their review and approval of financial statements, inclusive of key transactions and statutory adjustments.
7. Review and document financial reporting processes.
8. Work with and support accounting teams elsewhere in the business to meet their UK audit requirements.
9. Interacting with internal colleagues in tax, legal and other functions on a regular basis.
10. Identify opportunities for improvement, not limited to risk identification and mitigation, processes and our use of technology.
11. Monitor technical developments including their impact on KBR.
12. Participate in the design and implementation of training and development of the team.
Additional opportunities:
13. Involvement in regional and global project activities for KBR’s corporate function, for example the transition to a new General Ledger system and Legal Entity Rationalisation programs.
14. Trial new ways of working, inclusive of the introduction of automations and enhanced data analytics.
15. Working together with other KBR functions, including the Group Financial Reporting and IT functions to ensure that our operating model is in line with both the Group’s SOX control environment and UK legal entity financial reporting requirements.
Skills / Experience:
Essential
16. A relevant number of years of experience working in financial reporting required.
17. Strong understanding of UK GAAP accounting concepts and principles.
18. Highly adept at interrogating General Ledger/ERP systems.
19. Well organised and able to manage own time effectively.
20. Inquisitive and analytical approach.
21. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced global environment.
Desirable
22. US GAAP financial reporting experience.
23. Experience in performing/managing the performance of key financial controls, reconciliations at individual company and consolidated levels.
24. Experience in the review and documentation of key accounting processes and controls.
25. Familiarity in using MS Dynamics and the MS Power applications.
Qualifications:
26. ACA qualified or equivalent.
