GI Cancer Administrator
Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a friendly, reliable and organised individual to join our administrative team within the busy Gastrointestinal Suspected Cancer Service.
We require excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with both clinical and non‑clinical staff. Flexibility, teamwork and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere are at the heart of how we operate.
Key responsibilities include managing referrals that come through to the GI Suspected Cancer Service, triaging suspected cancer referrals within clinical guidelines, booking patient appointments and managing diagnostic test orders. Additional duties involve sending pre‑procedure preparation to patients, spreadsheet data entry, typing clinical correspondence, managing the service call queue, responding to voicemails, handling telephone and email enquiries, minute‑taking for team meetings and stock collection.
Main duties of the job
* Triaging suspected cancer referrals within set clinical guidelines and placing orders for diagnostic tests or outpatient appointments.
* Booking patient appointments within local and national cancer targets using endoscopy and outpatient schedules.
* Sending pre‑procedure preparation to a select cohort of patients.
* Spreadsheet data entry and daily management of patient results.
* Typing clinical correspondence and posting letters.
* Log into and manage incoming service call queue and respond to patient voicemails.
* Dealing with telephone and email enquiries.
* Minute taking for team meetings.
* Stock collection and inventory.

Qualifications
* Educated to A level
* NVQ level 3 Customer Service/Business Admin
Experience
* Experience working in an office environment or reception service
* Secretarial and/or administrative experience including minute‑taking
* Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
* Working within guidelines
* Data entry experience and documentation skills
* Experience of IT packages – Microsoft Office
* Experience of producing documents
* Previous NHS working experience
* Diary management
* Experience using ERS
Knowledge
* Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
* Sound knowledge of office procedures
