St George's Healthcare NHS Trust wishes to appoint a Senior Neurosurgical Clinical Fellow with an interest in Neuro-oncology.
Responsibilities
* Expected to run out-patient clinics and operating sessions accordingly (patients will be under a designated consultant).
* Work with a team of clinical and academic registrars.
* Cross-cover of colleagues' absence as required.
* Perform on-call duties including operating out-of-hours at a level appropriate to a Senior SpR.
* Attend clinics with the Clinical Oncologists based at both the Royal Marsden and Royal Surrey County Hospital; these will be included within the timetable.
* On-call duties will be shared equally with the other ST4+ level post-holders and will be banded at 1B (40%).
* Run a weekly clinic in neuro-oncology with the neuro‑oncology CNS.
* Ample opportunity to perform audit and research projects at St George's, RMH and RSCH.
* Incorporate an element of service development.
* Travel between all Trust sites and other necessary locations to fulfil duties.
* Work collaboratively with the Neuro‑oncology CNS to facilitate effective clinical management and seamless care of patients with brain and spinal tumours.
The Clinical Fellow accepts that he/she will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant, in consultation where practicable, with his/her colleagues, both senior and junior. These commitments are exceptional and not intended for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
Qualifications
* The Senior Neuro‑oncology Fellow post will provide excellent experience for candidates who have completed neurosurgical training and passed the FRCS(Neuro.Surg) exam or equivalent.
* Full‑time position with ability to work with minimal supervision.
