Overview
We are looking to recruit a competent Senior Theatre/Anaesthetics/Recovery Practitioner, who can work within many specialities and are able to deputise in the absence of a team leader. The post holder should help maintain a positive learning environment and take every reasonable opportunity for maintaining, developing, and acquiring competencies for self-development. The recruitment, training and development of our theatre staff is pivotal in the delivery of safe, efficient, and timely patient care. "Building outstanding theatre teams" is our ethos, and staff development is central to this. The Post Holder must act as an expert resource for all clinical staff and students. The post-holder must effectively participate in the supervision, training, and support of learners in Theatre and possessing a relevant Practice Assessor/Educator qualification is desirable
Expectations to deliver a high standard of service with patient safety and quality are a priority. You should be able to demonstrate effective team working and work to the highest standards of evidence-based practice.
The post holder will participate as an integral member of the theatre team giving leadership and guidance to other staff, maintaining high standards of practice and care. The post holder must work alongside our department's Theatre management team in supporting development, and implementing positive change, within our Theatre department.
Responsibilities
* To function as a competent clinical Scrub/Anaesthetic/Recovery Practitioner within the designated clinical area.
* To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing theatre practice.
* To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
* To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
About us
The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital comprises of nine Operating Theatres covering a range of Major and Day Case Surgery including Urology, Upper GI and Bariatric, Colo-Rectal, Orthopaedic Trauma, Vascular, Ophthalmology and Robotics. Additionally we run an Emergency CEPOD Theatre which runs 24 hours a day depending on the clinical needs of the department.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* RGN or reg. ODP
* Evidence of Continuing Professional development/ qualification relevant to area of speciality.
Experience and Knowledge
* Significant post Registration experience in Theatres/Anaesthetics.
* Managerial ability
* High level clinical skills and knowledge.
* Evidence of co-ordinating, managing and leading the team in out of hours service delivery.
* Teaching ability
* Experience in undertaking preceptor/mentor role
* An awareness and understanding of nursing/department policy and practice relevant to speciality.
Desirable
* Willingness to undertake mentorship course
* Involvement in Nursing audit and Research.
