SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Full-Time (Term-Time Only)
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? We are a welcoming and inclusive school looking for an enthusiastic and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. You'll support pupils with a range of needs including autism and speech & language difficulties.
Responsibilities
* Supporting children with a range of SEN (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, physical disabilities).
* Adapting learning materials and activities to meet individual needs.
* Assisting with differentiated instruction in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Providing one-to-one and small group support.
* Implementing strategies to encourage engagement and positive behaviour.
* Monitoring and recording pupil progress.
* Using de-escalation and positive behaviour management techniques.
* Supporting children with emotional regulation and social interaction.
* Encouraging confidence, independence, and resilience.
* Building trusting, supportive relationships with pupils.
* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals.
* Communicating effectively with parents and carers.
* Using clear, accessible language and visual supports (PECS, Makaton, social stories).
* Active listening and empathy when supporting pupil needs.
* Assisting with classroom organisation and resources.
* Supporting pupils during transitions, break times, and off-site activities.
* Helping with personal care and mobility needs where required.
* Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
