Job Title: Customs Compliance Officer

In an era marked by globalisation and the relentless flow of goods across borders, our client, a leading company in the packaging industry, is seeking a skilled Customs Compliance Officer to ensure the smooth and lawful movement of their trade operations. As a pivotal figure in the organisation's international trade process, you will play a vital role in upholding complex regulatory frameworks and facilitating seamless trade activities.


Responsibilities:

1. Interpersonal Communication & Relationship Proficiency: Effectively communicate with stakeholders, including government officials, corporate teams, and suppliers, building strong relationships.
2. Regulatory Expertise: Possess a profound understanding of customs regulations, trade agreements, and tariff systems to navigate international trade law.
3. Attention to Detail: Scrutinise documents and processes meticulously to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
4. Analytical Abilities: Interpret complex regulations and analyse trade data to make informed decisions and optimise compliance strategies.
5. Customs Application: Identify and apply for customs simplifications such as Inward/Outward Processing, Customs Warehousing, Approved Exporter, Duty Deferment, Returned Goods Relief, and VAT postponed accounting.
6. Respond to Customs Enquiries: Address inquiries related to commodity coding, trade preferences, duties, valuation, and customs transit.
7. HMRC & VAT Knowledge: Maintain compliance with HMRC and VAT legislation through continuous professional development.


Qualifications and Skills:

* Successful track record in obtaining customs approvals for traders.
* Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
* Thorough understanding of the market, key players, and products.
* Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ambitious and highly motivated.
* Proficient in MS-Office and sales support functions.
