Key Details: Location: Solihull Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Fixed-term maternity cover Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday Subjects: Textiles & DT (Resistant Materials / Product Design experience beneficial) The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Experience teaching Textiles and/or DT at Key Stage 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable but not essential) Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering both theory and practical lessons Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies A creative, engaging approach to curriculum delivery A commitment to inclusive teaching, student progress, and safeguarding An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging Textiles and DT lessons in line with the national curriculum Support students in developing practical skills, creativity, and safe workshop practice Monitor and assess progress, providing structured feedback and intervention where needed Maintain an organised and safe classroom/workshop environment Contribute to departmental planning and wider whole-school initiatives Support learners of varying abilities, including those with SEN or EAL needs This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic DT/Textiles specialist to make a real impact within a well‑resourced and welcoming secondary school.
