Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to employ a motivated and enthusiastic consultant psychiatrist to North Mersey Community Mental Health Team based at Kingsley House, Manchester, to work with a dedicated and supportive team of multiprofessionals.

Main duties of the job

1. Provide medical leadership for MDT meetings.
2. Carry out comprehensive psychiatric assessments and provide treatment for inpatients.
3. Support ward-based staff in managing psychiatric emergencies.
4. Conduct patient reviews and lead multidisciplinary ward reviews, CPA reviews, and multi-professional meetings.
5. Be the responsible clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and perform duties according to the code of practice.
6. Maintain Responsible Clinician status following agreed procedures.
7. Perform comprehensive risk assessments and participate in risk management processes.
8. Provide medical leadership to the inpatient ward team.
9. Maintain effective communication and work cooperatively across services, including wards, community teams, and primary care.
10. Liaise with families and carers.
11. Complete reports for Mental Health Tribunals, with support from the Staff Grade doctor.
12. Attend or supervise tribunal work, assess for the use of the Mental Health Act, and manage consent and Section 17 leave authorizations.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
* Full GMC registration with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility.
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months.
* In good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions on practice.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A DBS check will be required to verify any previous criminal convictions.

Salary range: £105,504 to £139,882 per annum, pro-rata.
