Marketing & Communications Lead – Defence
Overview
This role leads both internal and external communications for a global defence-technology organisation. You will develop clear, impactful messaging, support employee engagement, strengthen the company’s industry presence, and coordinate high-profile customer and industry events. Based in Staffordshire with hybrid options, the role also supports sites in the US.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
*
Build and deliver global marketing and communications strategies aligned with corporate goals, product launches, and defence programmes.

Work with teams across business development, product management, engineering, and leadership to ensure coherent messaging and consistent brand identity.
Content & Campaigns
*
Produce and manage marketing content such as brochures, white papers, case studies, and multimedia assets.
*
Lead integrated campaigns for major defence exhibitions and product showcases.
Media Relations
*
Act as the primary media contact for industry outlets; coordinate interviews, press activity, and contributions to sector publications.
*
Support participation in relevant professional and industry bodies.
Digital & Social Media
*
Strengthen digital presence through targeted online activity across the corporate site, LinkedIn, and defence-specific platforms.
*
Monitor and report on digital performance using analytics and CRM tools.
Stakeholder Engagement
*
Develop tailored communications for defence customers, government stakeholders, international ministries, and industry partners.
*
Ensure all materials comply with export regulations and relevant controls.
Event Management
*
Plan and deliver internal and external events, including exhibitions, product demos, VIP visits, conferences, and recruitment activities.
*
Coordinate branding, messaging, and event logistics; support leadership with presentations and speaking engagements.
Internal Communications
*
Deliver the internal communications strategy and maintain the intranet with engaging, timely content.
*
Produce newsletters, announcements, leadership updates, and staff stories.
*
Organise internal briefings, town halls, staff activities, and virtual events.
*
Support teams by turning documents and presentations into high-quality materials.
Skills & Experience
*
Degree in marketing, communications, international relations, or similar preferred.
*
Strong marketing communications experience in defence, aerospace, or maritime sectors.
*
Proven delivery of international campaigns and high-stakes communications.
*
Understanding of defence procurement cycles, contracting, and export controls.
*
Excellent communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.
*
Comfortable working independently across multiple sites and time zones.
*
Experience with CRM systems, intranet/website management, and design tools.
*
Confident working with senior leaders and managing end-to-end events
