Location: Northumberland
Salary: £89-108 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
Start Date: September 2025
Bring your SEMH expertise where it’s needed most
We’re seeking an experienced Support Assistant to join a specialist provision for secondary-aged pupils (11–16) with significant Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. All pupils have, or are in the process of receiving, an EHCP—and many are neurodivergent.
This setting offers a small, structured and nurturing environment where consistency is key. As an experienced practitioner, you’ll be trusted to use your skills to help pupils regulate emotions, engage positively with learning, and rebuild their confidence in education.
What your role will involve:
1. Delivering trauma-informed support to pupils with SEMH needs
2. Leading targeted interventions and supporting learning 1:1 and in groups
3. Using de-escalation strategies confidently and adapting behaviour plans as needed
4. Acting as a role model for resilience, communication, and positive relationships
5. Supporting colleagues with best practice and contributing to whole-school strategies
Who this role suits:
6. Professionals with a background in SEMH, PRU, alternative provision, or therapeutic education
7. Individuals trained in Team Teach, MAPA, Thrive, or other SEMH approaches
8. Calm, resilient practitioners who can handle high-pressure situations with confidence
9. Those committed to helping young people achieve both academic and personal growth
What you’ll get through Protocol Education:
10. Competitive daily pay between £100–£120 (PAYE)
11. FREE access to advanced CPD, including trauma-informed practice and Thrive training
12. Ongoing 1:1 support from your SEND-specialist consultant
13. Referral bonuses when you recommend colleagues
This isn’t an entry-level role—it’s a chance to use your experience, training, and resilience to make a measurable impact in the lives of young people who need it most.
