Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, manages large transport infrastructure projects, and is responsible for delivering a long-term multi-modal transport strategy for the West of Scotland.
Having upgraded our Subway stations and introduced a new fleet as part of our Subway Modernisation Project, our next major milestone will be transitioning operations to our new state-of-the-art Operational Control Centre.
About The Role
We have a great opportunity to join our Subway Operations Team. The Communications & CCTV Operator will report to the OCC Supervisor, focusing on monitoring passenger behaviours through CCTV images and supporting passengers and operational staff by making announcements. They will control and monitor all CCTV equipment across the Subway estate and respond to passenger requests from trains and stations, ensuring these are dealt with effectively and professionally.
About You
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of security procedures, safety, and security practices. Experience working within an Operational Control Centre and liaising with senior staff is desirable. You should understand legislation related to CCTV, data protection, and confidentiality. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with experience communicating directly with passengers via radio and PA systems. You must have high concentration and observation skills, the ability to provide accurate real-time information independently, and be self-motivated to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
Qualifications include being educated to standard grade level in English, Maths, and Arithmetic or equivalent, with Specialist CCTV-related SIA qualifications. An SIA license is desirable.
This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, working a 5/7 shift pattern. The role may require working outside normal office hours occasionally to support operational needs. The position is based at the Operational Control Centre, Robert Street, Glasgow.
Please note, this role falls into the high-risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and is subject to for-cause testing procedures.
