Your Impact
We are looking for an experienced communications professional to join the international GCAP Electronics Evolution Consortium (G2E), based in Reading, UK.
The G2E consortium is one of three Lead Sub Systems Integrators (LSSI) delivering capability for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), through the Edgewing Joint Venture.
G2E is developing the Integrated Sensing and Non-Kinetic Effects & Integrated Communications Systems (ISANKE & ICS) for the next-generation fighter jet being developed by GCAP for Italy, the UK and Japan.
As, the Consortium Communications Manager (CCM), you will lead joint communications with and on behalf of the four G2E partner companies – ELT Group (Italy), Leonardo (Italy), Leonardo (UK), and Mitsubishi Electrics (Japan).
The role is strategic, with overall responsibility for managing the consortium narrative, establishing a strong identity and brand, messaging and activation planning.
It is also tactical, with responsibility for day-to-day activities such as content creation, media relations, internal communications, planning event attendance, and developing printed material for trade shows.
THE CCM will work closely with the G2E consortium General Manager and in co-ordination with the Partner Company Communications Board (PCCB), which includes a representative from each consortium partner.
What You'll Do
Produce, deliver and measure the success of the annual consortium Communications Plan on behalf of the General Manager and the PCCB.
The plan, shared and agreed with PCCB, will include
Brand Management
Media Relations & Editorial
Content Creation and Production (print, digital and multimedia)
Event Management (Exhibitions, conferences, sponsorships, speakers)
Internal Communications
Serve as the main point of contact with consortium partners, ensuring regular updates on activities and opportunities.
Oversee the approval processes for communications within the consortium, guaranteeing timely involvement of partner companies and conducting necessary technical and security reviews prior to usage.
Develop and manage the communications budget, ensuring effective selection and procurement of required products and services.
Handle external suppliers and foster positive relationships. Collaborate effectively and build trusted relationships with various communications leads.
What You'll Bring
3+ years working experience in Communications
Proven experience in budget definition and management
Preferably experience of working in the aerospace or defence sectors OR in the communications departments of the armed forces of one of the three countries
Proven experience working with national and trade media, internal communications and digital channels
Excellent writing and communication skills both traditional and digital and public speaking skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability build trusted relationships across a range of internal stakeholders
Demonstrate strong influencing and stakeholder management skills at senior level.
Cultural awareness and understanding of global inclusion issues
The ability to work proactively under pressure and to tight timescales
Proficiency with all standard Microsoft Office programmes and digital platforms
English as a first language is preferable due to this being the primary language of the programme. Proficiency in Japanese and/or Italian would be an advantage
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
